Worth Noting on TV

SATURDAY

Summer Olympics (NBC, 12 noon-6 p.m., 7 p.m.-12 midnight): Barring a huge upset, the Dream Team (which has seemed to sleepwalk through the Games) is slated for gold in men's basketball. The men's and women's 4-by-100-meter relays and the 1,500-meter races will wrap up Olympic track-and-field events. And men's and women's tennis takes the court, with professionals Pete Sampras and Monica Seles out of the competition.

SUNDAY

Summer Olympics (NBC, 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m., 6:30-11:30 p.m.): The curtain comes down on Atlanta's Centennial Games. Women's basketball, the men's marathon, six weights of boxing, six canoeing events, individual equestrian jumping, and individual rhythmic gymnastics finals are all crammed into the closing hours of the Olympics. Plus, the mayor of Sydney (site of the 2000 Games) will be on hand to receive the Olympic flag.

For the closing ceremonies, officials are promising more entertainment than those kicking off the Games. To help them deliver it, Paul Shaffer, Little Richard, B.B. King, Wynton Marsalis, Al Green, the Pointer Sisters, and Marc O'Connor all join in a jam session of music stemming from Southern roots. And Gloria Estefan sings "Reach" - the song she composed for the Games.

Intimate Portrait (Lifetime, 10-11 p.m.): Female spies reminisce about their espionage activities during World War II in this intriguing, if sometimes disturbing, documentary. Nancy Glass narrates.

MONDAY

Evening at Pops (PBS, 8-9 p.m.): Boston Pops laureate conductor John Williams heads up this salute to director Stanley Donen, featuring film clips and songs from Donen's classic movies "Singin' in the Rain," "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," and "It's Always Fair Weather." Also included in the performance: Williams's Olympic theme "Summon the Heroes" - just in case anyone's forgotten it.
