I recall looking out onto an airfield

with my father (at age five),

About these ads

his shoulders lifting me up to sky,

his head, a world I sat above

to better see the wide field below.

Planes became stars, first

red-dwarfed lights, then roar.

My delight (of course) was that their might

came so close to matching his.
