Guide To Cheap Seats

You're a sophisticated urban professional with a little disposable income and a yen for live theater. You want to indulge in the thrill of a stage production but not make a dramatic dent in your wallet. If you know where to look, seats can be had for less than full price. Here's a sampling of cities with discount-ticket outlets.

Also, keep in mind that most theaters have informal programs to recruit ushers, who are not paid but get to see the show for free. In cities with "Percent for the Arts" programs, local businesses and corporations will sometimes sponsor a free performance.

Call your local theater for information.
