WHAT: Summer camps galore. Now's the time to start scouting out next year's choices for your children. Save time and money by searching this site, which is full of camps that will appeal no matter what your child's interests.

About these ads

BEST POINTS: Access to hundreds of camps without leaving the house. And these aren't your average summer camps, either. Send your child to a surf camp in San Clemente, Calif., or to learn French in a chalet in Switzerland. If Europe is a bit too far from home, choose from one of the many US camps. They're broken into 29 categories, such as academic, sports, day camps, arts, marine science, religious, computer instruction, horseback riding, and several focusing on foreign languages. Some are geared toward specialty interests such as sports journalism and filmmaking workshops.

This site is a gateway that links to the homepages of the different camps. A brief summary of each is included with an in-depth description just one more click away. The "more" icon will take you to the contact information.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Some camps are very expensive, costing several thousand dollars. Plan to call the camp and speak with a director to make sure it is suitable for your son or daughter. Some of the links we tried didn't work.
