And the world food winner is:

Walter Plowright, winner of the World Food Prize - a sort of Nobel Prize for food - will be honored next Monday for his contributions to animal vaccine developments.

"Dr. Plowright should be counted as one of the great heroes of the 20th century," says John Ruan, founder of The World Food Prize, which emphasizes the importance of a nutritious and sustainable food supply. Since 1987, the prize has honored 15 individuals who have made contributions to improving the quality, quantity, or availability of food throughout the world. The winner receives a cash award of $250,000.
