Do you love decorating for the year-end holidays - except for untangling the strings of lights you didn't put away properly last time? Then you may be interested in the following: Bioscientists at Hertfordshire University in England say they have found a way to eliminate all that and still have a bright, lustrous tree around which you'd be proud to gather on Christmas morning. Borrowing the same chemistry that illuminates fireflies, they say they'd treat young seedlings with a harmless bacteria that produces green fluorescent protein and an enzyme called luciferase. A special fertilizer sold with each tree would activate them, causing its needles to glow - around the clock. There's just one problem. Initially, at least, the trees would have to sell for about $350.

Professional baseball fans chose All-20th Century Team Many players on Major League Baseball's All-Century Team were introduced Sunday night before Game 2 of the World Series in Atlanta. Four are active: Roger Clemens, Mark McGwire, Ken Griffey Jr., and Cal Ripken Jr. The most controversial choice by a vote of fans was all-time hits leader Pete Rose, who participated in an officially sanctioned event for the first time in more than 11 years.
