Soccer moms leave sidelines

Soccer moms are known for carpooling and cheering their kids from the sidelines.

But a new campaign called C'mon Mom! is encouraging moms to get into the games their children play - as volunteer coaches.

"Organizing kids into cooperative groups, keeping the boredom out and the fun in, and motivating children ... positions moms to be great sports coaches," says Donna Lopiano of the Women's Sports Foundation.

A free soccer starter kit - containing youth soccer facts and coaching tips as well as a "Soccer Made EZ" CD-ROM, sports software created by women for women - is available by registering at www.comeonmom.com or calling toll-free 877-955-2666.
