Gear to take birding

*Rain gear: lightweight poncho or pullover.

*Waterproof but hikable footwear; good walking shoes.

*Lightweight long pants for when in tall grass to guard against ticks.

*Lightweight, long-sleeved shirt for when in woods or tall grass.

*Comfortable shorts for when in wetlands.

*Sunglasses, sunblock, good sun hat.

*Sweater for evenings and predawn outings.

*Three pairs of socks per day.

*Binoculars and/or spotting scope.

*A good birding field guide - Petersen's or Audubon's.

*Water bottle.
