Summer 2000 Olympics Viewing Guide

Say goodbye: The record-setting swimmers get wet for the last time Saturday. In the women's 50m freestyle, US teammates Amy van Dyken (who won the gold in 1996 in this event) and Dara Torres will be up against Dutch star Inge de Bruijn.

Before they even towel off for the last time, though, track and field will sprint in to fill the void. American Marion Jones is slated to run today in the women's 100m quarterfinals, as is American Maurice Jones in the men's 100m quarterfinals. The finals are Saturday.

And then there's a sport that makes hauling groceries look easy: women's superweight weightlifting. US teen Cheryl Haworth, who can hoist more than 500 lbs., is a serious contender for the gold today.
