Planning for the holidays - from work

Once again it's that time of the year when obligations at home tend to increase dramatically - and spill over into the workday.

Ever go online to do some gift shopping, book a vacation, or e-mail a to-do list to a spouse? More than a third of 1,008 adults surveyed by Xylo Inc., an online provider of work/life solutions, said they'll take care of such holiday activities from work.

Relax, employers. Most workers said they would limit planning time to just under two hours a week.

The most common tasks listed by those who plan to use the Web at work:

1. Ordering gifts online. 2. Using online shopping guides. 3. Sending e-cards. 4. Planning travel arrangements. 5. Ordering decorations. 6. Planning a party or distributing a to-do list.
