Vick As first pick?

Michael Vick, the most sensational college football player to come along in years, says he might shed a tear or two if, as anticipated, his name is called as the top pick in the NFL draft. It appears he's headed to the San Diego Chargers, who hit their all-time low last year by going 1-15.

The former Virginia Tech quarterback says he's developing a relationship with the coaches, who've already quizzed him on plays. Vick will make millions of dollars, which he says he's eager to share with his family in Newport News, Va. "It will be one of the most exciting days of my life, and one I'm never going to forget," Vick says.

South Korean wins boston

Lee Bong-ju of South Korea won the 105th Boston Marathon Monday, snapping a 10-year victory streak for Kenya, while Catherine Ndereba made sure the Kenyans weren't shut out, winning the women's race for the second consecutive year.

Lee raised his fist to salute the crowd as he came down Boylston Street to finish in 2 hours, 9 minutes, 43 seconds. "I knew I was running alone against many Kenyans, but the marathon is competing by yourself," Lee said. "I focused on competing by myself and not paying attention to the others."

Wrigley winter Wonder

The wind chill was 15 degrees as snow began whirling across Wrigley Field in Chicago Monday, turning the blue tarpaulin white in a matter of seconds. The organist at the old neighborhood park even got into the mood, playing "Sleigh Ride," "White Christmas," and "Jingle Bells" for the handful of bundled-up fans.

Finally, 35 minutes before the scheduled first pitch, Monday night's game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs was called off because of snow.

Poor visibility and extreme cold would have made it difficult to play, but by 7:10 p.m. - five minutes after the scheduled first pitch - the snow had stopped.

Quote

'As a kid, I never imagined being the first pick of a draft. To hear my name called first, maybe it will bring tears to my eyes. Who knows?'

- Michael Vick, former Virginia Tech quarterback, on Saturday's NFL draft
