Poem: Nightwalking

a half moon, barely

enough to light my way

About these ads

in this darkness

head craned upward -

searching for constellations

drawn to black space

I almost stumble

over a snapping turtle

she does not notice

About these ads

eyes full of moonbeams

intent upon shifting ground

her eggs, glistening

forgotten orbs brooding

under the night sky, she lumbers

back to the swamp

leaving me to ponder

the blossoming of each

hidden moon
