Ten largest funds beat the S&P 500

Certainly, the nation's largest mutual funds had a rough 2001. Despite a ground-gaining fourth quarter, most of these funds ended up in the red. Still, investors in the 10 largest funds can take solace in the fact that they stayed ahead of the benchmark S&P 500 Index, which fell 13 percent.
