Take the train to a park

Amtrak is offering a 5 percent discount on its lowest available fares for holders of a National Parks Pass. The pass costs $50 and provides free entrance to any US national park that charges admission.

For more information on the pass, see www.nationalparks.org or call 888-GOPARKS. To make reservations on Amtrak, call 800-USRAIL or visit www.amtrak.com.

Go to the front of the line

Six Flags is joining other theme parks in trying to eliminate long lines - and long waits - for the most popular rides. Visitors can rent a pager-locator that allows them to join a "virtual queue." They instantly receive a time at which their group can join the ride, so they can eat, shop, and explore in the meantime. The device reminds them when it's time to start toward the ride, which they join through a special entrance.
