Book Awards

Leif Enger's debut novel, "Peace Like a River," won top honors from the American Booksellers Association last Friday, beating Pulitzer Prize-winning "Empire Falls," by Richard Russo, and the National Book Award winner "The Corrections," by Jonathan Franzen. "Seabiscuit," by Laura Hillenbrand, won first place in nonfiction, and Ian Falconer's "Olivia Saves the Circus" picked up the prize for best children's book. The winners are chosen by ABA member bookstore owners and were announced at the Book Expo publishers convention in New York on May 3.
