SHOWS WORTH NOTING FOR JUNE 8-14

Saturday 6/8

Paul McCartney Forever: Here, There, and Everywhere (BBC America, 7 p.m.): This event at London's Royal Albert Hall was a unique concert organized as a tribute to Linda McCartney. George Michael, Tom Jones, Sinead O'Connor, Elvis Costello, and Paul himself make it a star-studded event.

Sunday 6/9

Atomic Twister (TBS, 8-10 p.m.): I'm not sure why we need another almost-disaster movie right now, but as almost-disaster movies go, this one is almost OK. In a whirl of reruns this week, it's one of the few made-for-TV films available. It stars NYPD Blue's always-dazzling Sharon Lawrence as an executive who finds herself in charge when a tornado hits a nuclear-power plant. Then a second tornado hits the plant, and suddenly everyone within 100 miles is in deep trouble. It's up to her and her small team to save the day – and turn off the reactor.

Tuesday 6/11

American Idol: The Search for a Superstar (Fox, 8:30-10 p.m.): Another "reality" talent-search show based on another British hit, "Pop Idol." Paula Abdul judges along with music execs.

Wednesday 6/12

Minute by Minute: The O.J. Bronco Chase (A&E, 10-11 p.m.): Another attempt to make sense of the Simpson case brings back grim memories. It's not inspiring, but it is informative.

Thursday 6/13

LIFE 360: Monuments (PBS, 10-11 p.m.): This fine series returns for its second season this summer with stirring stories about American life. Tonight's episode is truly affecting as we visit some of the great monuments in South Dakota and hear from the people visiting them. An elderly native American weeps with pride at the image of Crazy Horse carved in stone. Visitors to Mt. Rushmore stand in awe, expressing heartfelt affection and patriotism just weeks after Sept. 11. Roadside memorials commemorate lost lives across the Southwest. And animator Bob Sabiston interviews visitors to the Cathedral of Junk in Austin, Texas. Architects Boris Dramov and Bonnie Fisher discuss why monuments are enduringly significant through time. Journalist Michel Martin hosts.
