Jennifer Skalka Tulumello


Jennifer Skalka Tulumello is a regular contributor to the Monitor's political blog, DC Decoder, and has written cover stories on the abortion debate and political polling for the Monitor's weekly magazine.
She is a former staff writer for the Chicago Tribune, Baltimore Sun, National Journal Group, and Concord (NH) Monitor. Her work for these outlets has charted social and cultural debates — including gay marriage, stem cell research, and the death penalty — and she has also reported extensively from across the nation on presidential politics, national conventions, and several governors and state legislatures. She is a veteran television commentator who has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, and NPR.

A Washington native, Jennifer earned her master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, where she was awarded a political reporting fellowship funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts. She is a graduate of Tufts University. 

She lives outside Washington with her husband, and when not writing, you can find her enjoying the beauty of Jackson, Wyo.
