They'll take you from Mount Hebron to Silicon Valley. These are the 15 nonfiction titles that Monitor book reviewers found to be the most outstanding of 2011.
In Day of Honey: A Memoir of Food, Love, and War (Simon & Schuster, 382 pp.), Middle East correspondent and occasional Monitor contributor Annia Ciezadlo writes with warmth and style about how a fervent enthusiasm for local cuisine helped to create an air of normalcy for her and her husband during their assignments in Baghdad, Beirut, and other war-torn locales. Monitor reviewer Steve Weinberg praised Ciezadlo for her gifts as a writer, adding that “Her theme is marvelous, too.” (CSMonitor.com review, 3/7/11)
