Football legend Vince Lombardi, who as a head coach in the NFL never had a losing season, is remembered today for his time coaching the Green Bay Packers and for a stint with the Washington Redskins. In his time with the Packers, Lombardi's team won five league championships in seven years, three of them in a row, and triumphed at two Super Bowls. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Lombardi played football in college at Fordham University before winning a post as assistant coach at St. Cecilia High School in New Jersey as well as Fordham and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point before going on to the NFL. Here are 12 quotes from Lombardi on his birthday, June 11.
