Alexander Hamilton

About these ads

I’m now reading Alexander Hamilton, the biography by Ron Chernow. Hamilton was the chief architect of our government, our banking system, and our two-party system. Envied, despised, and loved by those who knew him, his fingerprints are all over modern America. Starting as the untutored, bastard child of the West Indies, he became a war hero, the aide-de-camp and personal secretary to George Washington, and our first Treasury secretary. He was the most brilliant man in a pantheon of brilliant men.
