Natalee Holloway's mother mum on Joran Van der Sloot but warns students

Natalee Holloway's mother didn't bring up Joran Van der Sloot but told students in Alabama to be careful and avoid strangers.

The mother of Natalee Holloway told a group of Alabama high school students about her daughter's disappearance in Aruba and warned them to be careful and avoid strangers.

Beth Holloway spoke Saturday to students at the Lions Club of Alabama High School Leadership Forum in Troy.

She discussed her daughter's disappearance in 2005 in Aruba while on a trip after graduating from Mountain Brook High School.

The Dothan Eagle reported she told the students that what happened to her daughter "could happen to anyone in this room."

Holloway did not discuss the recent arrest of a suspect in her daughter's disappearance, Joran Van der Sloot.

He was charged with murder in the death of a woman in Peru.

Holloway also did not discuss charges thatVan der Sloot tried to extort money from Holloway in exchange for revealing the location of Natalee Holloway's body.
