Many ethnic Kikuyus fled to a tent city refugee camp in Eldoret, Kenya, in 2007. Eldoret, in the western part of the country, suffered widespread violence after a botched presidential election. Most of the displaced people were afraid to go home in the aftermath of inter-tribal strife between the Kikuyus and the Kalenjins.
