Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir (c.) arrives to inaugurate the new Sudan Gold Refinery in Khartoum September 19, 2012. The refinery is considered to be the biggest in Africa. Gold mining in Sudan went on a high gear after South Sudan gained independence starving Khartoum of urgently need foreign exchange through oil revenue.
