It was once called The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time. Now it’s simply called The Muppets, and it’s headed to US theaters for Thanksgiving 2011 (November 23, to be exact). To prime at least two generations for this upcoming family comedy, Disney delivered the official teaser poster for the film, a movie that’s garnered over a year’s worth of buzz thanks to its screenwriter, actor-scripter Jason Segel, penning his first film since the impressive Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Can’t you just picture the credits intro with this quirky quintet slo-mo strutting toward the camera? It might happen. This latest Muppets entry, the first theatrical release since 1999′s Muppets From Space, is directed by James Bobin, writer-director for two spunky, edgy HBO hits: Flight of the Conchords and Da Ali G Show. The cameo list for this one is already a mile long (check out the Muppets fans scheduled to appear), so we’re expecting to see Jemaine Clement and Sacha Baron Cohen there too.
In case you missed it,here’s our rundown of the Muppets big-screen catalog, a portfolio of puppetry that spans two decades. And soon, fans of Kermit, Piggy and Fozzie can thank Jason Segel for perhaps starting a third decade.
