Palin agrees with Biden that Obama presidency will create crisis

A rare spirit of camaraderie surfaced today on the campaign trail. Sarah Palin thanked Joe Biden.

In fact, Palin was such a fan of Biden's recent remarks, she repeated some of them just to make certain people didn't miss out.

Warm and fuzzy? Nope. It wasn't a repeat of the Al Smith dinner last week where John McCain and Barack Obama really did appear to appreciate each other.

This was all sarcasm.

Her "thank you" to Biden?  For a recent statement he made about foreign affairs under an Obama presidency.

Biden-ism

Two days ago, Biden predicted an international crisis would occur if he and running mate Barack Obama were elected to office.

“Mark my words: It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy,” Biden said. “The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Watch, we’re going to have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”

Explaining Biden

What Biden was attempting to say according to the Obama-Biden team, was that all Presidents are tested.  That's the nature of the job.

“Sen. Biden was making it clear that history has shown presidents face challenges starting on day one, and with our nation fighting two wars and 21st century threats abroad, we know that we need steady leadership in tumultuous times, not the erratic lurching and stubborn ideology of John McCain,” said Biden spokesman David Wade.

McCain's interpretation

Because it sounded odd and somewhat alarmist, the McCain team jumped on it, saying that even Joe Biden knows Obama was ill-prepared to take the helm.

Yesterday, McCain responded to Biden's statement.

"We don’t want a president who invites testing from the world at a time when our economy is in crisis and Americans are already fighting in two war," he said.

Palin's interpretation

Today it was Sarah Palin's turn. At a rally in Reno Tuesday, Palin thanked Biden for the heads-up.

"He told Democrat donors to mark his words – that there were 'at least four or five scenarios' that would place our country at risk in an Obama administration," she said.  "I guess we've got to say, 'Thanks for the warning, Joe!"

Oracle

Then Palin outlined four could-be scenarios she could see – of course the end result was all bad.  Or as she put it, "would place our country at risk in an Obama administration."

They included sitting down with dictators without preconditions, sending U.S. troops into Pakistan without that country's approval, pulling U.S. troops out of Iraq early, and a Russian invasion of Ukraine (based on Obama's reaction following the Georgia invasion).

Last but not least

She saved the sound bite of the day for scenario number five.

"But I guess the looming crisis that most worries the Obama campaign right now is Joe Biden’s next speaking engagement," she said.
