Not enough Obama inaugural events for you? Good news, there's more

Well, if there's one complaint about professional sports it's that their respective seasons aren't long enough.  Why does basketball season, for example, start in October and end in June when it could really start in August and end in July?

Obama's Presidential Inaugural Committee isn't about to make that same mistake.  They're putting together event after event after event just to make sure there are enough Inaugural activities for everyone.  And then even more.

Yesterday we told you about the two-hour Monsters of Rock type lineup to kick off the Inaugural events including Bono, Beyonce, Mary J Blige, Bruce Springsteen, Usher, Garth Brooks, Ethel Merman, Shakira, and Stevie Wonder.

First Ever Ever

Now they've announced the "First Ever Neighborhood Ball."  And once again they've said this is further proof that Obama is going to change Washington.

President-elect Barack Obama has vowed to change Washington and that’s just what he’s doing. Today we announced that he’ll be hosting the first-ever Neighborhood Inaugural Ball on January 20 at the Washington Convention Center with free or affordable tickets available. There’s never been anything like it.
Past inaugural balls generally have been closed to everyday Americans, populated instead by an exclusive circle of dignitaries and donors. President-elect Obama, however, wants to share this special night with a wide cross-section of Americans, reveling in the possibilities of what we can accomplish together. A portion of the tickets will be reserved for D.C. residents.

Twittering

So how does it work?  We're not exactly sure but you can plan your own Obama inauguration party by going here.  The ball will be broadcast on ABC on January 20 at 8:00pm (ET).

Then they say the DC Neighborhood ball and balls across America will be connected via webcasting and texting.

So expect a lot of Twitter traffic on Inauguration night.  And nothing is more riveting.  Snarkiness aside, Twitter's growth rate in 2008 wasn't too bad.  Try 750 percent.

Anyway, the musical lineup for the DC Neighborhood Ball  includes:

Beyonce
Mary J. Blige
Mariah Carey
Faith Hill
Jay-Z
Alicia Keys
Shakira
Stevie Wonder
Nick Cannon will DJ the event

First Ever Ever Ever

They also announced a "Kid's Inaugural" event.  This will be broadcast on Disney from 8:00 - 9:30pm (ET) on January 19.  The lineup includes:

The Jonas Brothers
Miley Cyrus
Demi Lovato
Bow Wow
Billy Ray Cyrus
Keke Palmer
Usher
