SC Dem to Mark Sanford: This is not a 'love story' anymore

Mark Sanford, Hollywood star?

Poor old Mark Sanford – the man can't catch a break. First, he bemoaned the end of a tumultuous affair with an Argentinian lover. Then he said he would leave office. Then he decided to stay, because "for God to really work in my life I shouldn’t be getting off so lightly.”

Finally, Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer asked – nay, begged – for the Love Gov to leave office.

Now, Dwight Drake, a South Carolina Democrat vying for Sanford's gubernatorial seat, has released a satiric video eviscerating the standing governor. And although we're not professional movie critics, we will tell you this: this video is actually pretty good. It's based on the trailers for "500 Days of Summer," a romance flick starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel.

But instead of Tom, the character played by Mr. Gordon-Levitt, we have Sanford, who is ridiculed at length for abdicating his official responsibilities. Sanford, of course, has maintained that despite his moral failings, he is still fit for political office.

Mr. Drake obviously feels otherwise.

In a one minute-plus video, he takes a few jabs at Sanford, while a series of unflattering photos spool out in the foreground.

Finally, near the close of the clip, the voice announces, "We can end this movie now." Ouch. But hey, don't take our word for it. Watch the video below, and make sure to let us know what you think.

Are higher taxes inevitable?

Obama made a campaign pledge that he wouldn’t raise taxes on anyone except the very well-to-do. But his options are narrowing.
