Michael Vick, Eagles crush Redskins: Are Super Bowl and big payday ahead?

Michael Vick has the Eagles in the conversation about potential Super Bowl teams this year. Michael Vick could potentially earn another multi-million dollar contract after the season, as well.

Hours before their Monday night game, quarterback Donovan McNabb signed a five-year, $78 million contract extension with the Redskins. Washington, however, does have an 'out' clause that would cost them $3.75 million.

Then, he and his team laid a Faberge egg against Michael Vick and the Eagles, losing 59-28 at FedEx Field. Vick threw for 333 yards and four touchdowns and ran for another 80 yards and two scores versus the Redskins.

Vick has the Eagles tied for the lead in the NFC East with the Giants at 6-3.

Michael Vick will become a free agent at the end of this season, which still has seven games remaining in it. But the question of how much money will Vick get on the open market is now a source of much speculation – especially after the dominating performance on the Monday night stage.

Vick is 30 years old and enjoying his best season ever, despite missing three games due to injury. His quarteback rating improved after Monday night's win to 115.1, best in the NFL.

Still, questions and concerns about his dogfighting impresario past will persist. Vick served 19 months in a federal prison after being convicted of running a dogfighting operation. Some are calling his new NFL career a true American redemption story, a man who has paid his debt and turned his professional and private life around. After he was released from prision, Vick approached the ASPCA about working with them after he was released. They flatly turned him down.

But he persisted, and is instead working with the Humane Society, speaking to youths about making good choices.

If Vick can lead the Eagles to the Super Bowl, the $78-million contract that Donovan received will look like pocket change.
