Divers trying to retrieve the missing left engine from a US Airways jetliner, which splash-landed safely last week in the Hudson River with 155 people aboard, suspended the search until Tuesday because of dangerous ice floes. Over the weekend, the plane was lifted from the river and loaded onto a barge , which transported it from New York to a New Jersey marina. The plane's "black box" recorders have been recovered.

According to employment forecasts, New York City will lose 181,00 jobs in 2009, including 50,000 in the financial services sector, making it the worst-hit US city, based on data released by the US Conference of Mayors. All but five of 363 metropolitan areas are expected to experience job losses.
