Although Nikki Haley, a Republican Indian-American who won the South Carolina gubernatorial race, received some attention, reaction to the midterm elections was subdued in the Indian press. Obama has a three-day visit to India coming up this weekend, and coverage of the US focused on that, rather than his party’s defeat Tuesday. There is little concern that the loss will have an impact on US-India relations, the Monitor reports.

Meanwhile, on the homepage of the Pakistani publication The Dawn, election coverage was nowhere to be found.
