Shaking up 2012: US senators who aren't running for reelection

With the 2012 campaigns not far off, the departures of these incumbents are shaking things up. Here's how.

7. Jim Webb (D) of Virginia

Senator Webb decided to retire after just one term in the Senate. He narrowly won in 2006 on a platform of more benefits for veterans and opposition to the Iraq war.

Webb's opponent in that race, former Sen. George Allen (R), will run to take back his seat, while ex-Gov. Tim Kaine is on the candidate wish list for some Democrats.
