Colorful pictures, lively tales; The Circus, by Brian Wildsmith. New York: Oxford University Press. $3.95.

This is a true picture book. It has one line of print, and the rest is filled with colorful pictures of the circus. There are tigers and lions that roar without making a sound. There are dapple-gray circus ponies that float on a pink background to the silent rhythms of the circus band. There are giant elephants that balance on the tops of bottles, and clever acrobats who build a pyramid so tall it goes out of sight off the page. All of this and more is presented with wonderful color and an eye-appealing design by Brian Wildsmith. You supply the oohs and ahhs.
