Five students wounded in West Bank protest

Israeli police fired on a demonstration by 1,000 Palestinian students Monday, wounding five of them, in one of the most violent clahses on the West Bank in 13 years of military occupation, authorities said. The new violence here, where the students were protesting the killing of an Arab woman, came as the government announced that Prime Minister Menachem Begin will moved his offices to East Jerusalem in three to four months.

Egypt quickly denounced that move, warning that Mr. Begin was trying to place "a new obstacle" in front of the Palestinian autonomy talks resuming in Washington July 2.

Mr. Begin's office denied that the announcement was meant to coincide with the talks. A spokesman said that the decision was made 18 months ago.
