Iran order ouster of Soviet diplomat

In what amounted to the sharpest reprimand to Moscow since the revolution here in February of last year, Iran ordered the expulsion of a Soviet diplomat Monday for spying.

First Secretary Vladimir Golovanov, who has served in the Soviet Embassy here since September 1977, was declared persona non grata and given 24 hours to leave the country. The embassy had no immediate comment on the incident.

Also, a Marine sergeant who is an American hostage will be prosecuted for the alleged rape of an Iranian woman, whether or not parliament decides to free the captives, a Justice Ministry investigator said here Monday.

Meanwhile, the ailing Shah of Iran was reported to be in satisfactory condition after an operation at Cairo's Maddi military hospital Monday, Egyptian Vice-President Hosni Mubarak said.
