Credit where credit is due

Knowledge for its own sake is gratifying, of course, but college credits are often useful in our credentialed society. There is a way to combine self-study with accumulation of college credits toward a degree or certification.

The College Entrance Examination Board (for further information, write to: CEEB, Box 1822, Princeton, NJ 08541) has developed college-level examinations that can be taken for credit in lieu of course work, for a modest fee, from cooperating post-secondary institutions.

More than 1,800 colleges and universities around the United States offer credit for examinations passed in math, the humanities, natural sciences, English, and so forth. These CLEP (College Level Examination Program) exams are given every month, in every state. if the college nearest you doesn't provide ths service now, perhaps a word from you to the registrar might be just the needed incentive.
