A $20 million weather satellite was launched from the Kennedy Space Center and will be placed in stationary orbit 22,500 miles over the eastern Pacific Ocean. It is equipped with a radiometer designed to measure temperature and moisture vertically through the atmosphere, giving forecasters better insight inot the "fuel" supply ahead of a storm and the factors that influence storm movement.
