Skyjackings to Cuba climb to a dozen this year

Two Spanish-speaking men, carrying cigarette lighter and two bottles they said were filled with gasoline, hijacked a Delta Air Lines jet with 88 people aboard to Cuba over the weekend. Friday, a stewardess and two passengers overpowered a Cuban refugee who had demanded that an Eastern flight en route to Miami from Newark, N.J., fly to Havana. There have been 11 other hijackings to Cuba this year, many by dissatisfied refugees wishing to return to their homeland. Federal authorities tried to stem the tide of air piracy by placing US sky marshals on a number of flights and by using "behavioral profiles" to try to spot potential hijackers before they board their flights.
