Saudi officials raises doubt on shift in oil policy

On his arrival for a meeting of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, Saudi Arabian oil Minister Ahmad Zaki Yamani clouded speculation that his country would raise its oil price and cut production. Many OPEC foreign and finance minister gathering for the meeting on oil policy had predicted that the Saudis, the world's largest exporter, would take such action in an effort to stem a world market glut.But when reporters asked Sheikh Yamani when the Saudi price would be raised, he replied with a question:

"You take it for granted?"

He said the OPEC finance and foreign ministers would discuss pricing after the policy meeting.
