Polish unions pick up members -- and snags

Poland's independent labor movement has attracted at least 3 million members since Poles won the right last month to organize trade unions outside Communist control, labor leaders said. The movement is facing a struggle, however, with problems ranging from harrassment of would-be unionists to lack of access to Poland's state-controlled news media. Meanwhile, at least 16 enterprises were halted by strikes as workers pressed on with trade union coordination.
