Carter to sign bill limiting searches of news rooms

President Carter will sign legislation limiting police searches of news rooms and other places where people are engaged in activities protected by the First Ammendment. The bill was sparked by a Supreme Court ruling in 1978 that police were within their rights in 1971 to search the offices of the Stanford Daily, a university newspaper in California.
