OAU to be asked to look at Libyan thrust in Chad
President Leopold Sedar Senghor of Senegal will ask the Organization of African Unity to hold an extraordinary foreign ministers' meeting to discuss Libyan intervention in northern Chad. He said Libya had created a special 5,000 -man military unit to intervene in West aFrica. Its task was to "create a troubled situation in Chad, Niger, Mali, and Senegal which would lead to a Saharan Republic under [Libyan leader Col. Muammar al-] Qaddafi's control," he said. In Cairo, Egyptian Foreign Minister Kamal Hassan Ali also called on the OAU to deal firmly with Libya's "flagrant aggression."
