No, it's not all Right. Right-wing Republicans may be on the resurgence just about everywhere else on the national political scene, but they fared poorly in this week's GOP leadership elections in the US House of Representatives.

Former John Birch Society official John Rousselot of California was handily defeated for the No. 3 post, chairman of the party conference, by Jack Kemp of New York.

Marjorie Holt of Maryland, who sports one of the chamber's most conservative voting records, lost to the more moderate Richard Cheney of Wyoming for chairman of the GOP policy committee.

"New Right" parliamentary gadfly Robert Walker of Pennsylvania failed in his race for chairman of the research committee, won by mainstream Republican Edward Madigan of Illinois.
