Skull of "pre-man" found in China

Scientists have discovered the skull of an early "pre-man" dating back 8 million years, the Chinese Academy of sciences announced. "The find provides valuable material for establishing the time of the origin of man and the position of this preman in the history of evolution," the Xinhua News Agency reported.

The skull was discovered Dec. 1 in Yunnan Province and "is fairly well preserved," the news agency said.
