The Bolivian military governments has ordered the temporary suspension of the country's largest daily newspaper for printing material offensive to Bolivian women, the Interior Ministry said. Police occupied the premises of the newspaper, the Roman Catholic owned Presencia, following an Interior Ministry order banning its sale for seven days. Church sources, admitting that a story that ran in a Sunday supplement was "grotesque and offensive," said Bolivian bishops were meeting to determine how the piece had appeared in print.
