Peru-Ecuador dispute goes to diplomats

The conflict between Peru and Ecuador has shifted to the diplomatic front after an effective separation of troops on their disputed frontier in the jungle-covered Condor Mountains. The positioning of troops on opposite sides of the range lifted the threat of renewed incidents, diplomatic sources said. But the sources added the two countries were no nearer reaching agreement on the dispute than before the first ou tbreak in January.
