2 UN soldiers, 4 civilians killed in Lebanon shelling

Two Nigerian soldiers of the United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon were killed and 11 were wounded Monday during an artillery bombardment of the southern village of Kantara. A UN spokesman said two Lebanese soldiers were also wounded when 25 shells landed on the village, where a Lebanese army force is also deployed.

The state-run Beirut Radio said four civilians were killed in the shelling by Israeli-backed right-wing militias. It also said that the market town of Nabatiyeh, in the central sector, was bombarded by Israeli gunners.
