Walk softly In that realm where fabled brightness Courses limpid streams and forest groves. Listen for the ring of hoofbeats And wait behind centuried-girth of oak Until the longed-for Comes to rest. Then quietly, As clouds make dark the moon, Come forth; Behold his ardent white. Speak to him with love And he will hear the softness of your voice And answer you in kind, Lowering his proud neck to bear The circle of your arms Where the dream became incarnate.
