Iranian parliament cuts budget of the President

Iran's clergy-dominated parliament has cut President Abolhassan BaniSadr's office budget in a new move to cut his power, forcing the moderate chief of state to seek public donations to run his office, reports from Tehran said. The majlis, or parliament, last week slashed the President's office expenditures in a stopgap budget for April and May, the reports said.

Meanwhile, Iran said that revolutionary guards captured a strategic point inside Iraq. An official war communique said the area taken was the Heights of Lanoon, opposite Iran's Ilam Province.
