Polish prison revolt ends; 90 escapees still at large
A revolt by some 150 inmates at a jail here ended peacefully Monday, the official news agency PAP said. "The protesters peacefully left the demolished jail house and were transferred to other penal institutions," PAP said.
The prisoners had barricaded themselves inside a section of the jail since Saturday following a revolt in which another 154 inmates staged a mass break-out. Officials of Poland's independent trade union, Solidarity, had been taking part in negotiations to end the mutiny, but PAP gave no details of how the talks concluded.
