Mideast deployment time 2 weeks, US general says

It would take two weeks' advance notice to protect the Middle East from Soviet attack, said the commander of the Rapid Deployment Force. Lt. Gen. Robert Kingston, discussing the recent ''Bright Star'' military exercises in Egypt, Somalia, the Sudan, and Oman, said advance warning was required because the heavy weapons needed would have to be shipped by sea.
